Cure for E-mail addiction
Are you addicted? Want to be cured? Here are some ways to cure E-mail
addiction...
Written on Tuesday, October 27th
- Try to cut down the number of times you check your E-mail to only 20
per day. Yes, I know this will not be easy in the beginning, but it is an
essential first step in combating E-mail addiction. And don't leave yourself
logged in all day either--that's cheating!
- Install electronic shock devices on your keyboard that will automatically
work on the 21st attempt to check your E-mail.
- Don't send more than 10 messages a day, including jokes
(sniff...sniff).
- Try to go for a 20 minute walk everyday...yes, this means OUTSIDE...away from
the computer.
- Try not to think about who might, at any given moment, be sending you E-mail.
- Enroll in E-MAA; E-Mail Aholics Anonymous. President of said organization
would be the author of this E-mail...
- Take up a more creative, mind-enriching hobby such as knitting or underwater
basket weaving.
- Don't stay home thinking you will study because you will probably start
with good intentions of studying but will just end up checking your E-mail. Go
to the library. And whatever you do, stay out of the computer labs!
- Set your priorities so that you have all of your studying, work and/or
household chores finished before you allow yourself the luxury of checking your
E-mail. One of the following will probably occur:
- You will never again have time to check your E-mail
- You will be so tired after doing all that so that you won't even want to
bother with your E-mail, and thus, be miraculously cured from your E-mail addiction.
- Stay on campus and talk to friends (the human version, NOT the E-mail version),
if they can remember what you look like...
